Geophysicist for Software Development

Do you have a background in geophysics or rock physics, as well a strong interest in computer programming?

Enthought is developing software for constructing, optimizing, and stochastically perturbing rock models for petroleum exploration. You will be working with a talented team of software developers and scientists from both Enthought and our clients. You will serve as a domain expert, helping to steer the efforts of the development team, as well as designing and implementing algorithms for use in the software. This role often involves significant face-to-face time with clients to understand requirements, as well as to present findings or technical solutions. The ideal candidate will care deeply about the end user's experience and will share a desire to build flexible software applications that are easy to use.

Desired Skills and Capabilities

  • M.S. or Ph.D. in Geophysics or a related field
  • Strong background in rock-physics
  • Strong software development skills. Python and C/C++ are the primary languages we use, but are not strictly required. Experience with Matlab, Java, or FORTRAN is also applicable.
  • Petroleum industry experience as an interpreter (5+ years)
  • Experience developing software products for the petroleum industry
  • Experience in pore pressure prediction
  • Strong communication skills and the desire to work closely with a team
