Corran holds a Ph.D. and M.A. in pure mathematics from UCLA and a B.Sc. from the University of New South Wales.

Corran is a leader in the scientific Python community and is serving as co-chair of the SciPy conference in Austin, Texas. Prior to joining Enthought, he was chief scientist at Compudigm International, working on natural language machine learning and large-scale data visualization, and held academic positions at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and Texas A&M, with a concentration in functional analysis and operator algebras.

He has been using Python since 1995, when he was as a teaching assistant in UCLA’s Program in Computing. A citizen of New Zealand, Australia, and the United States, Corran likes to spend his free time exploring the British countryside with his family.
